Complications & More

Hi everyone,

I wanted to share an update about where things stand on my kidney transplant journey. I’m still on the waiting list and, so far, there hasn’t been a donor match or a living donor. As I continue to wait and pray for that call, my body has been undergoing a lot.

Recently, I’ve been battling metabolic acidosis, a complication that happens when the kidneys can’t keep the body’s acid levels balanced. It’s been a tough fight — the symptoms come with fatigue, shortness of breath, and overall weakness — and some days are harder than others. I’m doing everything I can to manage it with my care team’s help, but it’s definitely a reminder of how much I need that new kidney to get my health and strength back.

Although this journey has been longer than I had hoped, I remain hopeful. Every message, share, donation, and prayer has helped keep me going — and I can’t thank you enough for that. Your kindness reminds me that I am not alone.

Every bit of help — whether through donations, shares, or kind messages — truly makes a difference. It helps cover medical and travel costs, medications, and the day-to-day expenses that come with being in treatment while waiting. Most of all, it reminds me that I’m not fighting this battle alone.

Thank you for being part of my support system, for caring, and for helping me hold onto hope.

Cynthia
